We’re Supposed to Mention That We Saw John Hodgman Perform

Ever since we took a solemn vow to dedicate our lives to ballot propositions and California politics, we here at Johnny California don’t get out much into the pop culture world anymore.  However, last night we were invited to see John Hodgman read from his newest book.   We took the night off and went.

We were also told that as bloggers, the propper thing to do is mention that we were invited to see John Hodgman perform and that we went and saw him perform.  We’re not quite sure why, he’s done just fine without us ever mentioning him, but we here at Johnny California just do what we’re told.

Hodgman is promoting his new book More Information Than You Require, he read form it, and it was quite good.  His book touches on his fame as a “minor television personality.”  He knows his place in the pop-culture cosmos and sees the absuridty of a former fledgling literary agent and struggling writer becoming famous as a TV pitchman.  He writes about the weirdness-of-it-all with elegance and charm.  If it were not for our solemn vows, we’d definitely read the book.

You can read more about it on John Hodgmans’ website
