Headlines about stuff we’re interested in.
No official cause and/or suspects in the current fires, but a 16 year old was arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with last summer’s Gap Fire in Santa Barbara. [L.A. Times]
Dr. Henry Nicholas, the drug-charge-indicted-GHB addled gazillionaire mad-scientist behind Prop. 6 and Prop. 9 wrote an email where he admits he is out of control. The fact that this guy sponsored two anti-crime ballot props still astonishes us, it’s the nuttiest thing since President Bill Clinton signed a law called the “Defense of Marriage Act.” [L.A. Observed]
Not all farmers are upset about Prop. 2 passing. These small farmers think the new law is just great. If we could figure out how to sell eggs for $6/dozen, we’d be happy too. [Santa Cruz Sentinel]
Kinda-Sorta-Maybe 2010 Governor candidate Meg Whitman is being discussed as the possible new CEO for Yahoo. We say nonsense. She’s gonna run for Gov. [Bloomberg]
Gov. Schwarzenegger signed an Executive Order “calling on utilities to provide to provide one-third of their power from renwable sources by 2020.” The legislature will likely back up the bet with an actual law. Unlike Prop. 7, this will be accomplished without driving small producers out of business. [SacBee]
But if Whitman does run for Gov, she better not count on the Long Beach-Press Telegram’s Endorsement. Two years before the election, they’re already got the hots for Steve Poizner. [Long Beach Press-Telegram]
Rep. Jerry McNerney is now a name being “floated” as possible Secretary of Energy in Obamaland. [CA Politicker]
Lurker has some neat shots of freight train tags. Kids don’t try it at home (as if kids read this thing). We’re posting because we’re amazed that he got such great shots while driving 70mph on the Antelope Valley Freeway. [Lurker]
